Greetings Turnips!

Whoosh! There went the summer.

Perhaps you missed it. It took place this year some time between 11.30 and 15.25 on July 17th. Other than that it rained. And rained. And rained some more. Then just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the temperature has begun to drop too. This is Sweden as it should be, not just cold but cold and wet.

But we Turnips are positive creatures. Cold outside means cosy inside. It means soft warm jumpers, hot soup and roasted chestnuts on open fires. It’s Val Doonican season again.

So come on Turnips, put on your hat, put up the brolly and turn up the corners of your mouth. Let’s do autumn!

Använd en bra kvalité hårvatten
Apply a good hair tonic

Var god och ge mig lite bomull för mina öron
Kindly give me some cotton wool for my ears

Får jag besvära om en tändsticka?
Could I trouble you for a match?
Things we still giggle at........
Driving down the motorway in Sweden is an eternal disappointment.

Everytime I stop at a Rasta I expect to be greeted by Reggae, curried goat and the sweet smell of ganja.

Instead it’s just a bunch of pale overweight truckers having fika and sucking on a Kex Choklad

Just once, I want them to make some concession for my sake and serve up  meatballs and ting. Irie!
